I was wondering, how much better is Seoul's nightlife? I might be going there soon. |

What's the difference between 1 and 0? If you're not in Seoul or Cheongju I hope that nightlife isn't important to you. |

If you're into hardcore or punk music, Cheongju is easily the second best place on the peninsula. 13 Steps is a very impressive band. |

Seoul is 1000 times better.
I use to live in Busan. There are several imbred foreigner bars that people bounce around to all the time. I remember if the one or two foreign bars weren't happening in one spot of Busan, it was a taxi all the over to another part of the city. In short, its dull and boring in Busan.
In Seoul, well, it's just a completely different world, and 1,000,000 times better. |

How is this any different from Itaewon? |

Exactly... only... there's more to Seoul than Itaewon.
That said, I'd rather live in Busan and go to Seoul one weekend a month. |

The big difference is Busan has about 5-10 foreigner bars in the entire city, and they are all spread out everywhere. If you don't like one, you don't just cross the street or go next door, you usually have to take a 30 minute taxi to the next foreigner bar - and then you find its completely empty too!
Basically, Busan is the equivalent of Seoul with NO Itaewon and NO HongDae. So just imagine you could only drink in the Sillim-dongs, JongNo's, or whatever random local neighborhood of wherever you find yourself. |

dude. we use to live in PUSAN back in 97.. what you say is very true back in those days.. I havent partied there since 97 so I dont really know??
have you??
Ive been to pasan a couple times since then lastest being this year and it all seems changed especially PNU, Somyon, and gwangali
you'd think there would be much more clubs than the old days where it was pretty MONK, DALLAS, hollywoods which were all in three different locations.. |

So, there's a lack of foreign guys with their peckers out with something to prove? |

Yeah, I've been back a few times since then, and it's even worse!
PNU isn't so cool anymore. Some of the bars like 'Tombstone', if you went there now, you wouldn't even know it had such a cool foreigner history.
Now everyone goes to some other university area where there are about 4 bars, and maybe two bars in Haeundae beach, PNU is about the same, but a bit less, etc. Texas Town is a ghost town for ESL teachers, if you go there they will be shocked that Korea has ESL teachers, they see so few of them these days.
Whenever I've gone down the last few years, I am glad to be at the beach, but come nighttime, and it's taxi'ing it all over the city looking for something happening, and just won't find it. |

Very true, but there are special, unique places (more so in Hongdae and Sinchon) that are the true gems of Seoul nightlife. |
