Would you teach in Singapore or Korea? If you have taught in Singapore, please share your experiences. |

I never taught in Singapore, but Singapore as a city is 1,000,000 times better. |

To make decent money in Singapore you should have a B.Ed. If you do a search there was a thread on this subject before. It basically stated that language schools, aka hawgwons exist, but its hard to get a visa for those and the pay sucks.
Having a B.Ed gets you into international schools or government sponsored programs in their public schools.
I've been to Singapore a few times, and I love it there. If I was able to get work there, I would love to work a year or so there. Since my wife is Korean it would hurt financially, but I am sure it would be worth the experience. |

My research has confirmed this also. You need a B.Ed for the government programs or PhD for university level teaching. They language schools aren't as lucrative as North-East Asian - buxiban / eikaiwa / hogwan.

Singapore is very expensive! They are running out of housing faster than fast and everyone is complaining. Real Estate is super expensive so you pay about 3 times as much for housing as you would in Seoul. Most people have to have roomies to survive. If you work in Singapore, you can plan on living paycheck to paycheck. I've never heard of anyone being able to save money in Singapore (not even the locals). The money isn't too bad but you can't save on that because of the high cost of living. And there are bad employers in SG just like their are in Korea or anywhere else for that matter.
My advice: Go to SG if you have all kinds of money to burn or you find a good deal on accomodations that you can live with. |

Interesting comparison... last time I checked, Korea wasn't a city. |
