I just got a fairly decent MP3 player and I'm looking for a website to get MP3s from. I haven't done this in a long while so I don't know what the "in" thing is these days.

What do you use to get MP3s? P2P, Bittorrent?

Any good programs / sites? Thanks.

i don't like limewire any more ... but it's not bad for individual songs.

if you like downloading albums and discographies, you can get torrents from isohunt.com and mininova.org ... that's what i usually do ... even pulling out individual songs, they still download very quickly.

Ahh... last time I used that program it was an alpha and there were absolutely no users.

I just downloaded it and it looks to be completely loaded now. I can get anything! Thanks a million.

Torrents...just google whatever you're looking for....EX. The Cars torrent. Find one w/ the most seeds and download it w/ your torrent client.

That's too slow, and not very successful. Especially if I'm looking for songs that aren't very popular and would only have seeders back in my home country--whom I can't connect too. I've tried the torrent thing before and it's really bad for individual songs.

I have Soulseek running right now at home, once I set it to download I had about thirty songs in under five minutes and now its downloading another 200 or so that I'm sure will be finished by the time I get home. Bittorrent can't do that.

Well, yes, bittorrent can do that, but that's beside the point. Why not use both? This isn't a pissing contest. Use the appropriate program for the job at hand. Sometimes that means torrents, other times not.

eMusic
Amazon's MP3 store

You know, just in case you'd like to compensate the artist. Both are DRM free.
