I mean Dave's is fun and all, but it seems Seoul centered. What about us louts in the land of potatoe and coal? Where all the cheese is rumored to exist but never eaten? How do you get your funk on in small towns of 3,000? I need help, advice, I want to get drunk on something besides $1 soju bottles with the local fishermen.

I am trying to go to Gangwondo myself through EPIK and not a bit concerned about not having a place to meet other foreigners nor working with them as there is no camaraderie to be found here. There are 2 foreigner bars where I am at now and I don't care about patronizing them regularly even though I'm a beer drinker. I get my funk on at home. I doubt if there are many foreigner bars in Gangwondo, but I could be wrong about that.

Just drink beer at home when you want to drink and travel on some weekends such as for shopping and sightseeing. You can also download movies and TV show torrents on the Internet, put your headphones on for music, and read websites.

I live in a city of 500,000 on the southern coast and it is not an exciting place for socializing and having friends nor partying. Some say they do like the scene. Maybe I am a little too old for the 20 something year old college campus like crowd nor in the right profession to fit in the older engineer guys. Generally, we are all independent individuals who don't care to have friendships here since we all know this is a temporary sojourn and we will be parting ways to go back out in the world outside of this fishbowl of a place.
