Yep. To enrage us and to give Korean politicians and bureaucrats stiffies thinking they are cracking down on degenerate foreigners. |

So has anyone emailed the guy who wrote the article? Did you receive a reply? Would anyone be willing to visit the guy at immigration?
Personally, this person has difficulty justifying the new E2 regulations even though he works for immigration. Immigration have lost face and they are desperately trying to justify a "fubar" immigration policy.
I like what this guy has also done, if you feel pissed about some foreigners complaining about the new E2 Visa regulations, what do you do? Go to the newspapers because that would help. The only thing it helps is further confirm what a shambles of an institution people run called the Immigration Service and the shambles of people who work there.
This guy now has a long way to restore the support of foreigners in Korea. A word of advice for him, think about another career. |

That is why so many of the people with E2 visas that I know are getting the hell out of here. Good teachers. The regulations are so incredibly vague and you can't even get a drug test easily. I mean..Christ. They put a law on the books without researching at all it seems. I guess we need to exercise our logical reasoning...Yeah, the only ones who are illogical are Immigration. |

No. He has a legit BA. And he was on an E7 Visa. Believe me, if his degree was fake, it would have made news. |

By the way, going to law school and passing the bar exam are two different things. I had a frtiend years ago who finished law school but failed the bar exam three times. Sorry, simply showing admittance to a university is not proof one is a lawyer anymore than having attended medical school makes you a doctor. |

I didn't comment. God knows I wanted to, though. |

Duh, it says YEAR ADMITTED IN NY: 2007. He went to law school in St. Louis, so it means he was admitted to the N.Y. bar this year. Please learn how to read. |

The information was obtained via a lawyer search engine, retard. Criticize the attorney if you must, but he is legit, and if you can't figure that out... |

Your language is unbefitting a teacher and unnecessary. I assume you don't have the cajones to indulge in that kind of rudeness in person. Of course not. And a certified teacher? I doubt it... |

Canadian authorities can't do that. Not for that anyway. Otherwise no pedos would have degrees. However the university that one attended can revoke the degree..but only for academic dishonesty and the like.
But you don't lose your degree for an unrelated criminal charge. Heck in some Canadian (and American) prisons you can enroll in programs so one can continue one's education. |

Response from US Embassy regarding notarization:
"The Korean government is giving out misleading/unofficial/unconfirmed information out to the public.
For information on the new E-2 Teaching visa law, please refer this: http://www.asktheconsul.org/E2ec07.htm"
When pressed on the specific issue (3 emails later) I received:
"We will get back to you as soon as we clear things up with the Korean government."
So, they won't actually confirm or deny regarding notarization of local checks or online checks yet.
Coordination with home country embassies my ass. |

This lawyer guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, while raving about his own educational credentials.....yeah great. There are so many things wrong with what he wrote I don't know where to begin.
So the Korean gov't is letting people in with provisional affidavits now?
He still fails to mention that immigration still requires people to get the legit police check....which means a return to your home country for most of us, followed by a bunch of beaurocratic hassles trying to get this stuff done. The measures he talks about only delay the process a bit.
Anyone with any experience dealing with Korean immigration knows that the existing rules are haphazardly applied according to the whims of whichever official you are dealing with. These new regs are going to multiply the BS by at least a factor of 10, probably closer to a 100.
Do we have his written guarantee that he will personally help all of us deal with immigration officials who choose to interpret the new rules differently than he does? Will he be on call for us to explain the way things are to each and every immigration officer? I doubt it.
