|
|
I'm ready to upgrade to a bigger monitor, and I want to be able to watch DVD's, movie/tv downloads, streaming video, etc. while surfing, emailing, word processing, and so on.
Can I do both simultaneously (by using split screen or whatever you call it) on one big monitor, or would it be more practical to use two smaller (owing to cost) monitors?
In the alternative, is it possible to watch/listen to the aforementioned movies/videos/downloads on my existing TV (yes, I have the connecting cables) and dedicate the computer monitor to surfing/emailing/word processing?
As of now, I can do one or the other on my monitor, but not both at the same time. Maybe I don't necessarily need two monitors? Am I doing something wrong?
Pardon my ignorance, please. |

one big monitor will be cheaper than 2 medium monitors but dual monitors is just better for workflow. I got dual 22" monitors (one is rotated to portrait mode) and if I had the money would move to 3 or 4 monitors. |

What type of video card would I need to run two monitors? |

I believe that most newer video cards (and many older ones) will have to monitor ports. Be sure to get one with dual DVI ports. You should be able to easily configure your monitors once the drivers for the card are installed. |

You should also be able to use your tv as an extra monitor as long as you have the right configuration software.
Just don't try to browse the internet on your tv (unless it's a fancy LCD one) because the resolution is way too low. |
