I had already gotten my plane ticket for a visa run / leisure trip to Europe, assuming that as soon as my number came through, I could get my visa in any city with an embassy or consulate. WRONG! I had to do some expensive scrambling to make sure I got it.
There is a list (in Korean) on Immigration's website about which ones will accept the number, but that doesn't mean they'll process your visa. Some only do visas for their own foreign nationals or residents. The one in Paris said that they couldn't do an E-2 visa for me (an American) if I wasn't a resident of France. Same with the UK and Belgium. Always check.
Also, remember to ask how long it will take. Frankfurt did mine in about 56 hours, but said it usually takes longer. Several other places in Europe gave me estimates from 1 day (Vienna) to 2 weeks (Prague)!

| I have a dumb visa question. When I get my korean visa, is it a single entry? lets say after a few months in korea i want to take a long weekend in japan, is everything cool, or do I have to do more paperwork somewhere along the line? |

| Yes, it's a single entry. If you want a multiple entry visa you have to apply for it when you are applying for your Alien Registration Card (ARC) which you have to apply for within 90 days of entering Korea on an E-2 visa. |

If you are American your visa should be (make sure you check) multi-entry and will allow you to come and go during your FIRST year on that visa.
If you are British you get a single entry visa and must apply for a re-entry permit AFTER you get your ARC. This is FREE for UK citizens.
If you are one of the other countries who can get an E2 for teaching English then you must apply for a re-entry permit AFTER you get your ARC (this can also be done at the time you apply for your ARC). The cost of a multi-re-entry permit is 50k won.
If you are just making a single trip out of the country you can obtain a single re-entry permit at the Incheon airport before you pass outbound through security. The cost is 30k won. The office is located along the back wall of the departures area behind check-in counter "F". |
