I tried to run a search on this subject but found nothing. I hope this isn't indicative of what to expect on Monday night.

In any event, what are some of the plans or ideas that people on here have for the big day?

Just for the record, anyone who is off and taking a trip to another country that just happens to have an abundance of coconuts and palm trees should refrain from posting please. If any such posts should in fact appear I will not be held responsible for any voodoo that might be used against you. Wink

Seriously, what is there to do here for the new year?

Stay in your school provided apartment and listen to music, drink, read Internet, and talk on the phone. Its' really not New Years to me since it will only be 9:00AM New Years eve at home when the clock strikes midnight in the land of the morning calm. I found myself celebrating Christmas on December 26th Korea time since it was still Christmas day at home.

I understand many Koreans do have sunrise parties on the coastal areas where they have an all night party and see the sun rise on January 1st so that's an option if you have any Koreans to join.

I am surprised that none of the foreigners I know made any plans of theirs known for the holiday season. We just all ran off our own ways on Christmas even for Winter vacation without making invitations, except I made invitations to go to a Christmas dinner serving real American food with no takers. I took a Korean friend to that dinner which was his 1st time eating food from America and he said he didn't like it. It was the best dam meal I have had in 1 year!

You can go to a foreigner bar and I am sure you will find western style partying in there. Places in Itaewon, Seoul might be the best option to feel like you're in college or the U.S. army again. I don't know how to make it where you feel like you're in a western country or even some other country which would be a cool break.
