I've been teaching at universities for my last three years but I'm still open to the option of teaching in a decent kids school again in the future.
Sure, universities have more vacation time, but I'm here for the money. Also, I think I'm pretty good with kids and they are often more interesting than older students who have often had the sparkle crushed out of them by the time they get to university.
I'd readily work more hours and take less vacations if I could earn more cash but I'd rather not run the risk of doing loads of privates to rake in extra earnings.
Does anyone know what the most reputable kids hagwons in the wealthiest suburbs of Seoul are offering these days? I will go where the money is.

Koreans never have the sparkle crushed out of them. This place is the cause of the world sparkle shortage.

You can make more money working in public schools, if you do it right, and get a little lucky.
I've considered what you've said, only I like high school. Can't stand middle school or elementary. |

| What about doing kids camps in your vacation time? Extra coin, and you get to teach kids, plus, it's short term - if you don't like it, it'll end in a few weeks... |

Yeah, I did that at my old university in Seoul but my current university has really bad timing for its vacations and I can't find camps that coincide with my breaks.
I guess the ideal thing would still be a university job but one with loads of opportunities for overtime.
Perhaps I seem a bit mercenary, but let's be honest, for the majority of us, Korea is not exactly a lifestyle choice  |
