I'm moving to Seoul on January 5th. My school (POLY School) says it's across the street from Olympic Park, so I assume I will be living near there as well (I hope). If any of you are close and want to grab a beer with a newbie from Ohio and share some of your teaching/living info with me, that would be great. Let me know. |

I'm from Toledo, Ohio. Went to undergrad and grad school here, but am finally ready to get out of here. I'm flying out to Seoul on the 5th. How has your experience been so far? Anything unexpected? Let me know about your school and what not. |

I don't live near there now, but did in the past. It's one of the best areas to live in, in Seoul, in my opinion. A bit far from nightlife stuff, but it's a good place for everyday routine. It was my favorite area of the many places in Korea I have lived... |

I live across the road from Olympic Park...
BUT Olympic park is HUGE...
you may be near Olympic Park station, Gangdong-gu Office station, Bangi Station or Mongchontoseong Station...
find out what station you are next to...
(regardless - its a great place to live anyway)... |

Pro Tip:
There is an indoor swimming pool at the Sigma Tower building which is located kitty/catty corner to the Lotte World plaza. This is about a seven minute walk from the main entrance of Olympic park. |

I recently was offered a position with POLY as well at their Songpa location (also told me the campus is located right across the street from Olympic Park).
Still considering the offer but it would be cool to know if any of you are currently or will be working at the Songpa campus. Seems like you are micahjwhite.
It's nice to know there is an indoor pool as it's pretty hard to find one in Seoul. Hope it isn't crowded.
Would any of you recommend any gyms in the Songpa area/Olympic Park?
Sounds like the Songpa area is a good place to live in. |

The Jamsil indoor swimming pool is fun for Kids to play at...
But if you are a serious swimmer - why travel the 7 minutes down the road to Jamsil?
The Olympic Park itself has 3 (three) Olympics sized indoor-heated swimming pools - and membership costs only 5,000won per month (20,000won joining fee)... |

No indoor pools in Seoul? Now I have to ask all of my students who go to swimming class year round where they do it .
Jamsil is nice and convenient. My gf lives there and I have spent a good bit of time in that area. Good luck with getting acclimated. |

So far so good. I am the only foriegn teacher at my school, so its been kinda hard meeting people, but other than that, its exactly what i expected. Live is a good neighborhood that is really close to everything. Something funny i didnt notice before was your name, My name is Micah J Brown, strange coincidence for sure, i grew up in sandusky. Oh just be prepared to get sick the first moth you are here. its going to happen, bring some airborn, or emergen-C or Zicam, it has saved my life so far. Let me know if you need anything |

I guess what I meant was that there aren't many lap pools to swim at in Seoul. My girlfriend and relatives live in Seoul and I've asked them about swimming pools and they've either said there over crowded with kids or that many don't have designated lap lanes. |
