My kids are going bug nutty for stickers of this cartoon character. Even older kids. What is it? Why do the kids like it?

I think his name is "Karowae." Actually, the green one, the main one, is Karowae. The other colored ones have different names.

They are aliens. They interact with humans. You can buy their merchandise all over the place. It's a cartoon and comic book. That's about it.

I would beat my children with a wooden paddle for even mentioning something like that.

One of my students gave me the monkey (sticker) one -

His name is Tororo...

(Which is actually the name for a Japanese cold noodle dish - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dioscorea_opposita )

Well, just look at the eyes. Kids are obviously hypnotized into a mania that gets them to buy products dealing with these--what was it, aliens?.
Alien Zombie Ducks, a cross between Sailor Moon and Pororo. Are they comical or sinister? Makes a difference!

I'll stick with my old black-and-white pre-anime episodes of Astro Boy. What a hero!

My kids said these stickers come in some bread you buy... which might explain why they're everywhere...

The stickers of these characters are durable and restickable. They come in small packs of "bread" that the kids buy. The bread costs 500 w

Some of the characters are quite rare. One kid gave me on of the bad guys and all the kids in the school wanted it sooooo bad because it is a rare one.

PS- the one with the human is the rarest---only one human.

Anyway, I know too much about these stickers...... happy new year....

This character has been following me around all weekend. My wife bore a pair of my socks, and when she took off her shoe a sticker of that character was on her toe. She peeled it off and I stuck it on my camera, but she told me it's some sort of imperialist symbol of Japan intended to show support for wartime Japanese conquests. Then I saw a girl with the same sticker on her cell phone.
