The year of the Golden Pig is over.
Does anyone know what Koreans believe the year of the rat will bring to us?

Not quite.
It doesn't end until 11.59 on the 6th of February, the Lunar New Year's Eve.

Oh..yeah I just found that out.
Funny, I think most people in the West just assume that it changes over on Jan. 1st. I did..... |

That looks like a mouse and not a rat in the pic, but apparently the Korean language commonly doesn't differentiate between the two (based on my research).
True? |

That's not a rat, it's a hamster.

Glad to see I'm not the only one to have that thought.
For tzechuk: If 鼠 is the word for both rat and mouse is there a common way to distinguish between the two? Something like '太鼠' for rat, perchance? |

The word is 大, which means big. 太 means *too much*.. so 太大 means too big.
I just asked my sister, who's much better at Chinese than I am, and she said no, there's no real way of distinguishing between the two. Mouse/rat, rat/mouse, one for all, all for one! |

Transcendental person of the world... rats, cats, dogs, parakeets, frogs,
reality says animals piss on trees 5 days out of the week(we all need 2 days off). People (only 2 when needed) urinate when only at home. Please cast the the stone if you never pissed outside your own home. I have, on 54th Ave. NYC(1969), BTW- I've been drinking heavy since 29 DEC.... Bloody Mary, Black Russian, White Knight(s), I am way beyond this point of view... |
