Apparently some Venezuelans are still waiting for those benefits from Chavez's policies.

A revolution? Awaiting Chavez' Revolution

Quote:
LAS CUMARAGUAS, Venezuela - In this dusty town of potholed roads on the Caribbean coast, people are fascinated with the revolutionary changes that President Hugo Chavez talks about constantly on television.

But nine years after he was elected, many here say their lives are virtually the same. There are still few jobs. Running water comes only two days a week at best. Paint peels from the walls of the public school, where teachers say they badly need more books.

The state is building three dozen concrete homes here, but construction has dragged on while some residents are living in quarters so cramped they must string up hammocks in their living rooms.

Where, they ask, is Chavez' revolution?

Think Oliver Stone will do a documentary on it since he's already on the fringe of the jungle in Columbia to film Chavez' deliverance of FARC kidnap victims?

Wonder what bacasper, keane, igotthisguitar, EFLT, thepeel, and all the other looney tuners have to say about this?

I know, don't hold my breath.

Chavez has friends in high places, so we probably know what some of them think about the red-shirt-wearing-charlatan's glorious and heroic Revolution...

Apparently you are unaware that Chavez wears bright red shirts everyday (apart from this day, where he toned it down and wore a red tie), and that he "encourages" everyone else in Venezuela to wear similar shirts to express their support for the so-called revolution.

It gets tiring when ignorant people on this board come back with such responses punctuated with that kind of attitude, Djsmnc.

It's more tiring when stuffy people can't take a joke

djsmnc sniped:

And still more tiresome, Marat, when people have nothing that even remotely contributes to the discussion topic of the thread.

Postscript:

Peter McLaren, the radical critical pedagogue (re: neo-Marxist) professor from UCLA (but born, raised, and educated in Canada) has now joined the Caracas circus sideshow featuring all those disgruntled far Left academics in North America who pine for socialism in this hemisphere and regard Chavez as their beacon of hope (never mind that his tactics are no different than the counterrevolutionaries they all so roundly condemn or that he seeks to aggrandize his power base).

Hey, Pete, take a hint: stay there.
Hey, Oliver, please do likewise.
Hey, Henry (Giroux), Ontario's too cold; seek warmer climes southward
Hey, Joe (Kincheloe), forget Penn State; Caracas is the place ya wanna be!

It would appear that keane/EFLT/sandwich boy...is no longer with us. Maybe you should address your comments to those who can respond.

I've noticed that, too. Is his absence voluntary or otherwise? Anyone know?

Yes. It is, above all else, appreciated. Even with the massive influx of conspiracy-theory-obsessed people, it remains quieter here.
