I can't help you with this, but I am also interested in the answer.

I'll be traveling home with my dog who will be about 5 months old at the time. Does anyone know what the cost will roughly be, and where I can get an airline approved carrier in Seoul? I'm flying Korean air as well.

Thanks.

I'm guessing their English-language website has some information about it.

You'll have to check with the airline for exact details, but in all likelihood, you'll have to have a medical certificate for your pet (tell your vet you're taking your pet overseas) and you'll be asked to pay a surcharge. Some airlines allow you to take your pet as carry-on, others make you put them in a section of cargo.

well of course we have looked at the website but we have been getting conflicting information.... a lady on the phone told us it would be an extra $300 but on the web site it said that it was the same as the excess baggage charge (1.5 % of the ticket amount) so this would be a lot lower....

we have all the med certificates that we need it just seems that we are getting all kinds of different information

also airline approved carries are sold everywhere but if you are takin the animal in the cabin it has to be 22 x 10 x 9 its pretty small and we have only found soft carriers ( which are okay) that are that small

Actually there is a really good post/thread on this subject (bringing a dog in and out of Korea) on this site. I found it once when I was searching the site using a combination of "dog" and "airlines" - but I'm way too busy to search for it now. Good luck with your quest.

I just flew two days ago with both my dogs on KAL - one in the cabin, one in cargo. The fee is the same whether cabin or cargo. From LA to Seoul or vice versa is $220 dollars for each dog. If the pet flys in the cabin it must weigh no more than 11lbs (the dog and the carrier combined). Request seat J53 or J54. This is a point in the plane where the body of the plane curves and there is an extra space beside the passenger seat where a pet carrier can fit more comfortable than under the seat. If the dog is too heavy and must go in cargo then put a doggy ski jacket on it and throw a blanki in fpor it to snuggle in as the cargo temp is only 50F. They were very helpful at the counter and allowed me to not check the dogs in until 45 minutes before the flight lifted off so I could take them outside for a final potty break. Good experience overall.
