Is anyone going to this? I just got my tickets a few days ago. Apparently it's one of the "Evening With" shows which means it's 3 hours long (not sure if this is a good or a bad thing...depends on what the venue is like).
I also just got here about a month ago, so I'm interested in hearing what the non-dance-related music scene is like here. I suppose I could search the forums for past threads but I'm too lazy. |

3 hours with DT is only like 4 or 5 songs anyway right? You'l barely even notice it! Seriously though if you've never seen them in concert its a must. It's amazing how absolutely tight they play. I was front row in a small venue in St. Louis and in awe the entire night. |

It's at the Melon-Ax Hall (east end of the city). My only qualm with the 3 hours is that I would prefer not to have to spend them standing on a hard concrete floor. |

Yes, any info on the price of the tickets and where to get them? And when it starts? Thanks. |

Kyobo Building, bookstore in the basement, there's a ticket booth there. My friend got them, but apparently you can get to the bookstore directly from the subway station (Gwanghwamun) if you walk through some underground mall area.
They're about 90000 won each, though, so it's a little steep, but well worth it imo. |

Also, the show starts at 8pm...it's a Saturday, so no excuses. |

I saw them once, won't be going. I've tried and tried to get into Dream Theater. I own a couple of their CDs, and they just sound like cold jazz metal to me. I like technical metal bands like 'Maiden, but, yeah, not Dream Theater.
BTW . . . have you ever checked out this video?

Nice link, haha. I had a hard time getting into them, too, but the new album impressed me quite a bit.
IMO, the music is still pretty cheesy and melodramatic in places, but I can still appreciate the technicality. And, of course, some songs are better than others.
Anyway, I hope I enjoy it. |

Yeah, Dream Theater is definitely hit and miss with me, too.
But long epics like Metropolis Part 1, and even the 24 minute Octavarium has me interested in seeing them live once, at least. I have heard they are really good live, which is probably where their educated, calculated music would stand out most. |

I've always wanted to see DT live and I hope to see them on their upcoming Progressive Nation tour (North America). Opeth, Three and Between the buried and Me are the support.
I missed a few shows when I was in Korea but was fortunate to catch the Busan Rock Festival twice (2003 & 2004) and Shadow's Fall at the Rolling Hill club in Seoul. Judas Priest was amazing in Fukuoka, Japan.
Also, March can't come fast enough as I'm seeing Maiden in Toronto.
Yup. I'm glad to be back in Canada. |
