What about combing the pubic hair? You forgot to mention that.

I think it depends on your job. If you teach babies, they generally like the shaggy, sloppy foreigner look.

Adds to their mystique.

We all make enough money to get a haircut and some new shoes. We need to remember that we are representing our home.

I think I got the scrub look down pat. I don't look as bad as I did in my last year of university, but I look somewhat sloppy. It's one of the perks we expats can pull off, Stop raggin' on it!

To make matters better I bougth all of my clothes from a Value Village back home before coming. HAIL TO THE THREFT! ENGLISH BUMS UNITE!

That was sloppy writing (although not shaggy). When I wrote that it adds to 'their' mystique, I was referring to the eyesore teachers, not the babies. As in the case of pubes or a worldly outlook on life, they (the babies) lack 'mystique'.

We adults can generally figure them out pretty easily (the babies). I apologize for my poor word-craftsmanship.

(edit: I use the term 'babies' for 'students' that are being babysat rather than those you have reached an age where they actually have a firm grasp of why there is a foreigner speaking a garbled, indecipherable language at them).

Double edit: Ahh!! Will people stop talking to me and calling when I am writing?! I get all distracted. Makes me want to move into a goshiwon so I can finally have some privacy with Dave.

What do you expect from a bunch of unemployable layabouts? Hmm?

Are you serious? Do you shop at BYC or something? You should take a look at how expensive designer clothes are here. I like Armani and Boss but I can't afford to buy those clothes here on an English teacher's salary. They are outrageously overpriced.

To be the perfect teacher. But not all teachers are like Mr. Feeny (Boy Meets World) I always liked Harry Senate (Boston Public) perfect comes in many flavours.

You don't have to buy designer shirts or "Armani". You obviously choose the wrong profession if that is your style. They sell knockoff designers shoes and shirts at nearly every subway station. Ever been to Dongdaemun???

However, there is no need to walk around in dirty shoes and dirty, holed up clothes like I see all the time. Way to represent your family abroad!

I understand that some people here have not bought clothes since their mothers went with them freshman year of college. Many times we're the ones that look like the "assclowns".

Furthermore, it baffles me how some people can spend excess of $100 drinking in one night, but cannot fork out $35 bucks for a new pair of shoes.

How about spending $1000 drinking one night and forking out $600 for five pairs of shoes? Is that ok?

For some reason, I feel compelled to respond to this seriously. Ridiculous, I know.

I challenge you, Madam or Sir Topic Starter, to find me affordable places to purchase size 10.5 (US) shoes, pants with a 34 inch inseam and size 30 waist, and a size 75 D bra (Korean). In Busan.

Successfully complete the quest that I've given you and I assure you that I will drop the hobo look and put the Sparkling back in Korea.

Or is that her son? Her knees come up to his jock.

(I don't care if it's a bullshit photo. Stuff like that I prefer to assume is the real McCoy).

ronald, your spelling and grammar are appalling. Did you finish high school? If you did, then..."I can't understand why some people...eh, ronald... come here and teach English, but are unable to use it themselves..." ahem...
