Top things needed to survive Korea:
1. a sense of humour
2. an expectation that things will be somewhat different in Korea, telling yourself you ain't in Kansas
3. an effort to suspend one's own inbred inclination to judge where possible
4. a lack of personal responsibility to change Korea and Koreans
5. a willingness to take things as they come
6. an understanding that this too will pass
7. an awareness that one's time here is limited
Patience isn't needed, as it often just feeds frustration because it's based on expectations that won't be met by passive delay. Don't wait for Koreans to do anything: be active to getting what you most need, realizing you won't get everything you want but can easily still get much more than you need, all things considered. |

Gridiron style shoulder pads.
Maybe the post should be what you don't need in Korea:
You don't need manners,
You don't need any concern for the environment,
You don't need any class or good taste. |
