|

Hello! I have taught ESL for about 2 and a half years, one of which was in Korea. I am newly married and considering a return to Korea to teach only my husband does not have a degree. I am wondering what kind of work he might be able to find in Korea (most likely in Seoul) He has expereince working with kids as well as in warehouses (forklift and such). He has culinary training and is currently working as second chef at a trendy restaurant here in Canada. He would pretty much be open to any kind of work. Does anyone here know of any non-degree holders working in Korea? What are they doing? |

He won't be able to teach legally, but he might be able to hunt around and find something at one of the hotel eateries. They may be able to sponsor a visa for him. Good luck to you both. |

If he has a Canadian passport wouldn't he be able to get the 6 month "visa free" deal?
I know plenty of Russian guys (in particular) who come to Korea semi-legally and make a good living doing odd jobs (eg. importing/exporting cars, trading parts and equipment, getting "stuff" to and from ships etc ... among other things).
It just depends whether he is willing to work 'under the table' (with privates, summer camps or other jobs) + share accom with you, then he would surely be able to survive -- just have to leave and re-enter after 6 months. |

That's a 6 month tourist visa. He'd still be working illegally. Possible, as long as you're both prepared to pack up and leave with a few day's notice should he get busted. |
