|
|
I know, I know, there has probably been a dozen posts on this, so though I have so many issues to ask about, I'll narrow it down to just one for today.
I got an E2 visa on November 4th of 2007, for a public school in a small town.
After hearing so many things about leaving my contract and working for a hogwon (they all seem to amount to it being impossible, at least this early in the contract), I've also heard that if I complete 3/4 of my contract (nine months), I will be able to go work for a hogwon with little if any hassle... that not only will I be free to apply for a new visa, but I may not even need a new visa... I can simply transfer to a hogwon (and, I assume, go through a new visa process when the year is up, which is fine).
Anyone know anything about this 3/4 rule?? The hogwon wants to hire me in July, so that would be perfect, if the nine month rule is true... |

You are bound to your contract to give proper notice if your are planning on leaving a school for whatever the reason. If the school is breaching the contract in some way, you would be obligated to go through the steps and contact the Labor Board. There are few reasons that could be used for simply leaving your contract position. You must be careful about walking away without giving the appropriate amount of notice and going through the steps. |

There is a lot of urban legend that is passed around in this country. Many people have heard of some different things, but no one can ever point to a source. I can do some looking, but I am doubtful that such a rule exists. As far as I know the one rule that matters is that an employee and employer can mutually agree to terminate a contract if there is some reason for it. However, it is important in those cases to be sure and get a letter of release from the school. |
