I've tried to do a search for 'reading town' but I can't find anything on it at the moment. I know in the past I've heard things that weren't altogether positive.
I realize that all branches are different and wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about this specific branch.
I will also be talking to a teacher at the school but I still don't altogether trust that....
THanks! |

I interviewed with them a year ago. The only thing I can remember is that there were many parts of the contract violated the Labor Standards Act and they wanted me to share me with another school. I didn't sign on. Have you interviewed with them yet? |

i haven't actually - i wanted to see if i could find out any information about them before i did (i've worked at 2 diff hagwons from 2004-2006).
i have two other potential jobs that i'm also interviewing for....i'm being SUPER picky when it comes to location/hours/contracts so this has been a LONG process for me
what were the violating in the contract? |

It was a while ago, I remember it because it was only 1 of 3 interviews I ended up going to. They offered me a good salary but they only had 5 days of vacation, no pension, and working in two locations on a single visa. The rest of the contract was vauge, only 4 pages if I remember right. They wouldn't add severance to the written contract. Just to be clear this was the Reading Town near Kyungsung high school. That is in Hongdea |

To heck with Reading Town. Those scum in Busan held my friend's diploma along with the diplomas of the other foreign teachers and told them flat out, "We're holding your diploma to prevent runners." They also didn't give the required holidays.
"I'll be talking to a teacher at the school" is a complete waste of time. If he's still at the school, you can't believe a word he has to say. If he's no longer at the school, the hagweon won't give you his contact information. |
