I just watched the Korean Horror/Drama, Tale of Two Sisters. Some websites said it was one of the scariest Asian horror movies of all time. Well, I was really disappointed. Any recommendations on really good Asian horror movies? |

Not a bad movie actually. However, Discovery Channel (?) just had an asian movies documentary...rather interesting. Anything scary? Meh, Ringu maybe...nah, nothing 'scary.' "May" was ok.
Then again, Dawn of the Dead freaked me right out...wifey and I talked about it so much that we missed the highway exist going home from the theatre. Simple people is we.

Yeah, my friend and I both thought Tale of Two Sisters was difficult to understand, maybe a lost in translation thing. Anyone wanna take a shot at explaining? I'm DL'ing Audition right now. Has anyone seen the Japanese movie, Imprint? Some say it's great and some say it's just disgusting. |

It's the wrong season for'em. Most horror movies are played during the summer in Korea. They believe the "chill" it gives you helps to ease the hot summer days. There just may be something to that...blood drains from your face, you feel cold (or is it from the below 0 A.C.?) and when it's all over you go outside and feel the welcome warmth of summer...
As for good Asian horror movies...I can't think of a single one... |

I really liked Imprint up until the ending. Not for the faint of heart. Uzumaki is pretty bizzare. If you want something kind of strange and sick but not necessarily horror check out Happiness Of The Katakuries or Visitor Q. |

1. Juon: The Grude 1 and 2 (Japan)
2. Ringu 1 and maybe 2 - the rest suck (Japan)
3. Phone (Korea)
4. Ghost (Korea)
5. Shutter (Thailand)
A Tale of Two Sisters was one of the worst I've seen. So don't worry Asian horror gets better! |

The Japanese originals of Ju-on and Ring are vastly superior to their Hollywood remakes. The others I haven't seen. I'm watching Audition tonight so I'll give you my thoughts later. Tale of Two Sisters was quite lame in retrospect and who could figure out what the heck was going on in the movie. |

You all seem very much in the know so please tell me if you can name this Japanese horror movie. My friend told me about it during a recent visit home. I can't remember the title but the plot goes something like this:
A Japanese woman meets a guy on an online dating site. They both seem kind of timid. She ends up trapping the guy and basically torturing him to death slowly. The ending was something about her keeping him stuffed in a suitcase and then she moves on to the next victim.
The whole thing sounded completely outer limits. Thanks in advance. |

I recommend R-Point too. Maybe because I watched it alone, in the dark in the middle of the night... but it's a pretty scary one. |

You can't have this discussion of horror films without The Host or the original Godzilla. |
