|
|
How do I obtain a tourist Visa from outside my home country? I'm from the states, but after my e-2 is cancelled I'll have 15 days to go somewhere and come back eventually hoping to do the 3-month work and fly....I'd love to go to Thailand for a month...can I just go to the US embassy in Thailand and apply? What's the deal? Someone said I could apply at the airport upon arrival..doesn't seem right though...help!! -

First stop should be the Thai embassy in Korea, I would have thought.
Actually, a travel agent should put you right with regard to any visas that you need, so just ask them when you're going for your flight tickets. |

There is no application for a tourist visa. You just arrive in Korea and you get a stamp. |

But you have to apply for it outside of Korea. I had one (I'm a US citizen) back in 97.
According to the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade:
Quote: |
"Visitors who plan to stay in Korea for longer than 90 days must obtain visas before entering Korea.
2. Nationals of those countries which have visa waiver agreement with Korea can enter without visas, on the condition that they should not engage in remunerative activities during their stay in Korea.
Canadians can also enter the Republic of Korea without visas for a stay of up to six months.
3. Visa application should be made at Korean Embassies or consulates abroad.
4. It is required for the visa applicants to submit passport, application forms, a recent passport-style color photograph, and such other documents as determined by the status of stay.
5. Visa fees are as follows:
a. Single entry visa for a stay of no more than 90 days : USD30
b. Single entry visa for a stay of more than 90 days : USD50
c. Multiple entry visa : USD80
d. Prolongation of Reentry Permit : USD20
For Citizens of United States of America, multiple entry visa fee is USD45 on the basis of reciprocity since the mutual agreement in 1994.
e. Exemption of Visas Fees(As listed below)

As English teachers reguarly do visa runs to Japan I would imagine that in this instance too you would be able to obtain the appropriate visa in Thailand. I'm sure I will be quickly corrected if I'm wrong. |
