| Since we are dealing with useless stereotypes here, I have another question. Are dogs more like cats or pigs? |

What, with money? I wish it was the case with my girlfriend. I don't notice that one at all except for my boss saving money by buying used board markers and screwing me outta pension. |
I've read few times on U.S newspapers that say korean are next Jew and I agree some of that view, money, education of children, hard working and also stress with black community. |

Huh?
What U.S. newspapers did you read this on?
Here's my take:
Koreans are the New Jersyites of Asia. |

| Some Koreans believe that Koreans should act more like the stereotype of Jews--close-knit, greedy, intolerant of outsiders, and in control of Hollywood and the media. I think they've just been looking at too much white supremacist propaganda. |

Have you really heard this? I mean, I know a lot of them would like to see reunification - but racial superiority and purity? I think, as a nation, they don't see themselves as superior but maybe even inferior - i.e., the Japanese or Americans.
Still, no one here, other than one other poster, has heard the comparison of Koreans being the "Latinos" of Asia. I guess it's not a very good comparison. |

Actually, this has nothing to do with what you wrote above.... I saw that you used to live on Geoje-do and was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about it because I am considering taking a job on the island. I tried to private message you, but apparently I have to have 25 posts before I am allowed to do such things. Think we could email? Thanks for any help. |

One of them was " The Washington Post " about 3 months ago. |

The Irish it is!
The North-South dispute, their love of song, the scarcity of wildlife, their diet based on cabbage and a carbohydrate.
I see it. An analogy only goes so far, of course, but the Korean-Irish parallel goes farther than any others I can think of. |
Also, history of being oppressed. Koreans, as we know, got their butts thoroughly handed to them by the Japanese and the Irish were Catholic conspirators, conspiring with the likes of Louis XIV and Napoleon (and, though nothing to do with religion, even neutrality towards the Nazis) so the Brits were constantly oppressing the Irish. |

When I first got on this board, someone posted this link and said "read "Rest of Europe" as "Rest of Asia" and read "Italy" as "Korea". Now, especially with the upcoming craziness about immigration and E2's I have to agree with the part labelled burocracy.

Korea isn't so much as a country as it's a cult.
Koreans are not the Irish of Asia, nor are they the Italians.
They're the Mormons.
Korea equals Utah East. |

| You'll hear a lot of young Korean-americans give you the Latino comparison. It's just a desperate attempt to be cool and make a name for Korea. Latino culture is so bright, vibrant, passionate and exciting. Watch enough arirang, as these young kyopos do, and you're given the crazy idea that Korea is the same. |

And the black appetite for fried chicken and watermelon, just to complete the racial stereotype trifecta there. |
Buddy,
We lick bones dry at Kyochan, Dul-Dul, KFC, (fill in your neighbrohood fried chicken joint) and devour watermelons in the summer time like its liquid gold. Some will argue that "shik-kae" is our version of Kool-Aid but I refuse to dignify that baseless claim! |
