Wow! It almost gave me chills, so I can understand what this girl must be feeling. I saw a video on a Korean girl's cyworld page. It showed what grand gesture her boyfriend did for her for Christmas. He got candles and lit them and made them into a heart. He had more lit candles leading up to the heart in a cute little path. He had his girlfriend sit inside the heart while he played a love song and he had a Christmas cake for them with candles on it. This girl was wiping tears from her eyes in the video. I'd be crying buckets if a guy did this for me. They were both Korean.

So, my question is this: Why are sooooooo many guys today soooooooo unromantic??? I think we can thank all the die-hard feminists out there who make western girls look bad. You know, those manly acting women who don't even want doors held open for them. They make sweet feminine girls like me look bad. I love it when a Korean guy holds my purse or holds the door for me. I think these die-hard "I can do everything for myself" white girls are making guys treat girls like men. If you want to be equal to a man, expect to get treated like one! Not good for us girly-girl types at all. I actually think some Korean guys have their friends telling them not to do romantic things for a white girl because they won't like it. I even know a western girl who said if a guy did that candle thing, she would freak out and think it was over-the-top. Thanks a lot!

Korean girls tend to like and appreciate this stuff more. I guess I was Korean in a past life. I just don't understand feminists. Girls, let the man be the man. Let him carry your purse, open the door for you, and do things for you. Let him order for you in a restaurant, etc. Feminists are the reason the gender roles are so messed up these days. And when a guy does do something nice for us, girls show him your appreciation. Let the guy feel like a man and make him feel loved.

Blah blah blah. Princess, why don't you spent more time dating rather than bitching about men of all sorts of the forums? You're never going to find Mr. Romantic here!

(And for the record, I would find the candles romantic, but whatever. Romantic is fighting with your parents when they're pissed that you're dating a white girl until they finally agree to meet her.)

D*mn straight Princess! If my woman cleaned the house, did the laundry and had dinner on the table when I got home, I'd get her a romantic Christmas cake once a year. Fair is Fair. I would even carry her purse when she's allowed out of the house. And about ordering food for the woman. I would do that all the time. If we go to Micky D's, she gets fries and a diet soda and that's all. I ain't letting my woman to get fat like a feminist.

Those stupid feminists, who are too ugly to ever get a catch like me, have ruined everything. I hope some day you're lucky enough to find a man as good as me.

Yes, fighting with your parents to get them to meet your foreign girlfriend is romantic, too. My ex took me to his family's house and lied by saying I was his English teacher. He said, otherwise, they would have thrown both of us out. He was a coward and needless to say we are not together any more.

I know. That's why I posted that. And I've been in a similar situation except my boyfriend had the balls your boyfriend didn't.

Still, you're NOT going to meet Mr Romantic here! Wink

Why are so many chicks fat, b*tchy, superficial, materialistic, impatient, pseudo-intelligent, boring, unskilled in the bedroom, overly-emotional, Canadian, lazy, stricken with a laughable sense of entitlement...etc.? Laughing

But hey, if a woman is very skilled in the bedroom, most likely she is a *beep*. If you want skilled, head to the room salons. I'm sure they are skilled aplenty... Laughing

Exactly. Wives are for cooking, cleaning and babies. Whores are for fun. Most women don't get that and don't let their men be men. What's your number?

Not really surprised he lied, same sex relationships are deeply frowned upon in Korean culture.

Come on, now, they're not all like that. I've known a few who were not Canadian.

love is a many splendored little things that may go unnoticed to the unappreciating eye. love is giving up your career to have kids. love is enduring an unsufferable job so the kids can be fed. love is the quiet confidence in knowing that your love is the one person with whom you never have to carry on with pretensions. unconditional, unwavering. love is partnership deeper than words. love is a knowing look or a subtle touch at just the right time. romance in a successful relationship never abates. it is always there. i never heard my folks argue, raise their voice or disparage anyone. there was love in everything they did, from the 65 hour a week construction jobs to always having homemade birthday cakes for all 8 kids.

why aren't i romantic in the way of a" heart of candles"? i've seen real romance and love. i am the product of such and grew in its warmth. real, secure love doesn't occur on only holidays or special occasions. it is always there, vigilant. the expensive bouquetes wither and fade. love does not. candles melt and are discarded. love does not. all the pomp and production of store bought affection is just that: produced pomp. i dunno. all those grandiouse displays ring hollow and reek of insecurity. life ain't a disney princess cartoon. if you are lucky, very lucky and diligent and thoughtful and conscientious and altruistic and selfless it is something altogether much more magical.

perhaps the greatest key in recognizing romance is appreciating the little things: the unthinkability of "individual" bank accounts, the "we don't need two cars right now because other things are more important" sensibility to troop on together knowing that what you are building today will long outlive you the individual. 'separate vacations"? surely that is something made up.

diamonds may be forever, but they can't tell your great grand kids how that old dead guy in the photo was a rock and the lady next to him was his rose.

you can opt for the homeplus candles and scented baths. i'll take the unrequested holding of a hand after an exasperating day and the meatloaf for dinner. thank you very much. please. may i have another serving?
