yes, by all means- believe what candidates say. bill clinton promised to have the most ethical administration ever. george bush campaigned on a strong domestic policy and was against nation building. expect more of the same, whoever diebold picks.

Because like IGTG, it's easier to misinform and smear then to participate.

Oh, as well as spam the board.

Are you saying that the present Republican administration has done an adequate and acceptable job in running the country?

Why does that make the current candidates the enemy? There are good and bad in both parties. To say that one party is the enemy is exactly the kind of simplistic duelistic thinking that will prevent any real change in American politics.

Uhgh. I missed the party. Does anybody know where I can watch it in its entirety? Youtube only has it in pieces.

I don't doubt that all the Republican candidates, with the possible exception of Giuliani, are good and decent human beings (and I have reservations about the mental stability of one of them). But I firmly believe that it is Republican policies that are what have brought the country to the low state it is in right now. It is the Republicans who have made a career out of the Politics of Fear.

TIME gives Obama the top grade for debate

He's also on the cover of Newsweek, this week.

And he's taken major gains in the past 24 hrs in polls run by decent pollers.

Definitely has momentum to take NH.

Hillary is the opposite. She shines in debates, but is not as inspirational as Barack while campaigning.

I thought Richardson did well. His answer to the last question was fantastic, meanwhile neither Hillar or Barack answered it at all.

Just saw this video now and thought you might find it interesting:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr8RMYxhqbw

Right around 4:50 he's asked a question about the democrats on the stage and Ron Paul goes out of his way to praise Richardson on his foreign policy.

McCain seems to have won the debate.
Quote:

John McCain: A-
Rudy Giuliani: B+
Fred Thompson: B-
Mike Huckabee: B-
Ron Paul: C+
Mitt Romney: C+

If McCain wins the FlA primary he may very go all the way. He matches up well against any Democrat (although not on Daves Esl Cafe but that doesn't matter.) McCain is the most electable Republican and that is why he is the best.

While the Democrats can defeat McCain in blue states I don't think the Democrats can beat McCain in FLA and Ohio . If the Republicans win those two states then the election is history . The Democrats can run up the score in NY and Calif. it won't do them any good.

I have been reading that some Republicans are going to McCain for those reasons. I don't personally think his message is all that appealing to moderates anymore (as it was about eight years ago).

Because of the Iraq issue, and his unwillingness to question it, he resonates well with where the Republican Party wants to take the nation, but may not resonate with where Republican voters want the Republican Party to take them.

We'll see in NH however, as there are a lot of other factors involved as well, and he does seem to be leading there for the Republicans.

I missed the Republican debates, but it wouldn't have been interesting to see them go at each other. I have no doubt McCain will do better in NH and SC, not sure about Nevada tnough. Again, I have to agree with TB, his message is not that appealing. He will benefit (like Clinton) if there is a major world crisis, but in the absence of that, people are voting for change.

Youtube has half the debate up now. The rest will be up by midnight probably.

The pre-debate polls show McCain winning and Obama winning. Clinton and Romney were second. McCain is way ahead of Huck and Romney. Edwards and Paul bring up 3rd place.

The funny thing is I don't really think Obama did that well (he certainly didn't hit a homerun), but basically just held his own. I guess I shouldn't complain. As long as he wins NH I'll be happy.
