Now, if Paul wins the nomination somehow, then that's virtually guarantees a victory for the Dems. |
I don't know how you come to that conclusion. A recent Zogby poll has Ron Paul as the only Republican with a chance of beating Clinton.
"...The blind bio question was also posed to a larger pool of 1,009 likely voters nationwide, including Democrats and independents, and Paul was the big winner among that universe of voters, winning 33%, compared to 19% for Giuliani, 15% for Romney, and 13% for Thompson..."

The poll assumes that the party does not split or if Bloomberg enters the race. Which it/he will if Paul will get nominated.
If they're willing to split over Giuliani, then they'll be willing to split over Paul.
It's all about the war (Iraq and Iran) to the voters. |

| The telephone survey, known as a blind bio poll because likely voters are given details of the candidates resumes without their names attached, shows Giuliani wins 34% support, compared to 22% each for Thompson and Romney. Ron Paul, who has surged recently in polls and has a significant online following, came in last with 13% support, while 9% said they were undecided on the question. |

Nice way to spin things
That section covers registered Republican voters only. The far more important poll was the one I highlighted, showing Paul's support amongst Republicans, Democrats and Independents. One of the chief analysts at Zogby has stated that from the Republicans, only Ron Paul can beat Clinton. |

The county is Jefferson County. It's the home of Maharishi International University. That's where, for a fee, you can learn to levitate through meditation.
Yes, RP's message is resonating alright. Every fruit loop in Jefferson County must have been at the Republican caucus. I can just see the RP bumper sticker: Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. |
Funny, very funny, and probably true to boot. BTW, this will probably get me put on the sh-it list in my home state but this Badger must give credit where credit is due, even to a Hawkeye. I think Iowa did a bang up job, really. The voting public there did all Midwesterners proud indeed. It's amazing though how the East/West Coast elites in the media still find themselves astonished that Midwesterners who live on farms are so "enlightened" as to vote for a Black man to be President. Or that they doubled their turnout from the last presidential primary. Notice how they don't show the same level of expectation of New Englanders. Well, all I can say is that you and I both know the upper Midwest gets a raw deal. But just look at the SAT and ACT scores and most of the highest are consistently in three states: Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Garrison Keillor was right: we're all just a little above average.

I like Ron Paul, but being that he fared so poorly in Wyoming, one of the more libertarian states, I don't expect him to do so well.
However, I'm wondering if some of those Ron Paul voters are going for Huckabee? Not because of libertarian leanings, but because Huckabee has been willing to criticize Bush.
I think there are a lot of Republicans who are seriously disenfranchised with the Bush Administration, but would still like to vote Republican.
Huckabee might be appealing to these voters. Plus, to the average American voter, being evangelical isn't a bad thing as you'd think it would be, to the average American voter (outside the urban centers). |

Actually, he did neither. Even assuming that this character "Jesus" existed, and assuming further than he was tortured to death for claiming to be who he may or may not have thought he was, he most certainly did not ascend. He rotted and turned to dust. Just like you and I will do.
Can I pin the tail on you? |

Ron Paul Hosts Televised Townhall
With Undecided New Hampshire Voters
Sunday, Jan. 06, 2008
MANCHESTER, N.H. Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul's campaign will be hosting its own forum on New Hampshire television, following Dr. Paul's exclusion from a Fox News Republican "forum" tonight.
The one hour townhall will be broadcast on Manchester television station MCAM TV-23 from 5-6 PM ET. The event will also be simulcast online at www.RonPaul2008.com.
"By unfairly excluding Congressman Paul, Fox News is turning its back on New Hampshire voters who are tired of business as usual in Washington that overtaxes, overspends and tramples our personal liberties," said Ron Paul spokesman Jesse Benton. "Dr. Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity is a natural fit with the Granite State's 'live free or die' philosophy."
Congressman Paul was excluded from the Fox News event despite routinely polling higher in New Hampshire than other candidates included in the Fox forum, and raising nearly $20 million dollars last quarter.

I won't get into a spat with you about Jesus, but nice try.
The way I figure it, atheism is its own punishment.
So, Eeyore, time to go back to swamp.
Tiger Beer:
Ron Paul has about as much chance of gaining momentum in the primaries as Dennis Kucinich has of being the first human to fly a UFO.
Look for Thompson to drop out soon. Talk about a half-hearted campaign effort. Someone stroked his Hollywood ego and he came to attention.
It will be interesting to see how long Kucinich's much inflated ego keeps him in the race. Of course, he believes he's the voice that speaks to the conscious of America (which is why the UFO had him under surveillance). |

I don't feel like arguing either. Less this:
If you were raised in a muslim family, you'd be muslim. If you were raised in a Hindu family, you'd be Hindu. Same for Jain, Jew or Zoroastrian. Me, well, no matter who raised me, I'd be atheist.
I ask "why". This is the difference between you and me.
By the by, efl/keane is loose_ends. I was bjwd. |
