|

Hi folks,
I'm new here (so feel free to flame the hell outta me) and i'll be applying for a Korean visa soon. Right now i'm in the process of getting together all the docs needed, which I believe are:
- sealed transcripts
- degree
- self evaluation medical
- criminal record check (CRC) notarized and with an apostille
The first three are easy enough and I have applied for a CRC, from what i've read it must be apostilled.
I can get an apostille from the FCO (27), do I need a notarization as well and if I do where in London is a cheap place to get it done. From what i've seen it's gonna cost at least 60.
Thanks |

Did you get a basic disclosure or a standard access check? |

When I first came here, I got 5 copies of my degree stamped for 5.00. Bargain!! Was quoted ridiculous amounts elsewhere though. |

Get a smaller avatar,
anyhey, have you tried the London chamber of commerce. You may want to check first, you can call them on 020 7248 4444 or visit them online at http://www.londonchamber.co.uk/ That's where I had my degree photocopy notarized but that was a few years ago. Not sure if they still offer this service or if it's extended to criminal checks. |

I think the only way to solve this is to have a Duff-off. We both wear a baseball cap with sunglasses and see who can drink the most, Winner keeps the avatar OH YEAH!!!
Edinburgh is a little far for me, great place though, I went to uni there (have they cleaned up the Teviot yet or is it still the manky, watered-down, sweaty, slapper-filled beauty its always been?)

Is avatar envy possible?....
I will call the Chamber of Commerce tommorow, I'm sure I read a post about someone who got a notarization done there but I can't find it again.
So...has anyone in the UK actually had their CRC notarized and apostilled yet? |

A friend is a lawyer and I got mine done for free! However- he said that to notorise anything in the UK by a lawyer costs around 50 quid. |

OK! Let me re-phrase that then. PRIOR to coming to Korea, I went to a solicitor in the UK (Leeds) and was charged 5.00 to verify 5 copies of my degree. |

I've been under the impression that an original criminal record check needs notarization before it can be apostilled.
I recieved this reply from FCO:
Quote: |
We will be able to legalise your original disclosure certificate but first it must be certified and signed by a UK practising solicitor or notary public with their personal signature, as we legalise documents against the signature of the UK public official. |
But I recieved this from apostille.co.uk (who are willing to apostille it for a nice fee):
Quote: |
The original Criminal Record Check does not need to be notarised. |
Anyone any first hand experience on the matter? |
