|
|
Long story but I'll cut to the chase:
Got a fantastic new job with the understanding that the diploma for my brand new M.A. in English literature would be in my hands in early Febraury. A call back to my alma mater revealed that they don't actually print the damn things until SIX Months after graduation, but they will issue me a "Temporary" diploma on February first with the registrar's seal. It is a very large, well-known university in the states.
Is immi gonna squawk? I'll have the transcripts to back it up. |

Immigration only needs to see your BA diploma to issue an E2. |

the uni. will tell you this is fine. maybe it wil be. in taiwan temporary degrees count for nothing. i lost a sweet, plum job because the the taiwan gov't refused to recognize the temp. degree (i was a december grad and had to wait about 6 months as well).
if if was immi., i wouldn't acept a temp. degree. in my case it was just a typed leter from the uni. didn't look nice at all. |

The temp degree is stamped by the registrar with the university seal so I think I should be alright.
I'd call and ask immi but, famously, anything immi says is meaningless because they are so inconsistent....

As posted above, immigration need only your BA to issue an E2. The rest is up to your employer. |

I gotcha, dawg. My employer wants it processed with the M.A.

Does it say 'temporary diploma' anywhere? Couldn't you pass it off as the genuine thing?
Oh, they are correct in telling you a bachelor's will work for an E2. |

Don't know what the thing says but I am sure Immi will question it since it is on normal paper.
And yes, I know I can get the E-2 with my B. A.
YOU MIGHT FIND THIS A LITTLE HARD TO BELIEVE, but Koreans are just a tad bit touchy about their diplomas and such.
