I want to wire money home to my bank in Ireland but I'm not sure if I have the right code or not. I understand that people from the US use a code called a ABA and European countries use a code called a IBAN.
I was able to generate the following code from this website

| i would contact your bank and confirm it with them rather than just take it off that site. i worked in a bank in the uk and i know that if you get the numbers wrong, the banks will do VERY little for you to get the money back |

It's been a while since I wired money home, but the last time I did, I just told them how much I wanted to wire, and my bank info ( Name, branch address, branch sort code, and account number). I wasnt asked for a code for Ireland.
Keep the receipt that the korean bank gives you. It makes it a lot easier and quicker the next time you wire.
My bank is AIB, and they charge you for wiring it to them! (I paid 40euro the last time!) |

| The IBAN for Bank of Ireland is IE21BOFI... it's pretty similar to the AIB one it seems. There is also a Swift code, which you should be able to get from your statement. I needed that one for my transfer. |

| those IBANs seem a bit short to me...i think those might be the swift codes. the IBAN usually has a few letters at the start then a lot of numbers, and your bank account number should be in that number somewhere. IBAN is unique for each different account |

Yeah it's that code (IE21AIBK) followed by your bank branch's sort code followed by your account number. |

Your should ringing your bank and ask them, they just give you the exact numbers you need to make a transfer. I think its two numbers you need, the IBAN and a swift code.
Im with KEB here and its 18000 no matter how much you send.

No they don't charge to receive it, it goes through really quickly too, most of the same its the same day.
The phone number to call AIB from overseas is on their website. |

Excellent! I was getting a bit worried when I read 40 euro to send it as I only want to send enough to keep my credit card happy. |

You still should check - the receiving bank doesn't charge, but the middle ones, i.e. the clearning houses, might.
I used to send money to HSBC, they didn't charge to receive any money, but KEB sent it via NatWest, that was their clearing bank, and I had to pay 25 quid per transaction.
In the end, I had my dad send money each month and once a year I sent him a rather large sum of money all in one go that covered interests and all that as well - didn't want to leave him short, even if he and mum didn't need the money! |

| To make international transfer it is advised to have IBAN and SWIFT code at the same time. |
