I have been wondering which one to buy now for a while. I hear Apples hardly get any viruses and run smoothly. I am going to get a laptop and want to know if all the hype on Apples lives up? Anyone have one? Are they compatible with things you use it for and in Asia ( I'm sure it is). Do you recommend aa Apple macbook or macbook pro? Also with an Apple can you dowload easily with BitTorrent? I hear the Apples and iPods can't play downloaded music (like Limewire or so) well or at all. This is a big concern because I might get an mp3 player as well for the trip.

Ah, here we go....
Apple computers are now able to run windows software, so that's a plus.
And yes, when not on windows OS, they do not need antivirus software protection, so that's also a plus.
And yes, you can run Bittorrent applications on a Mac. I also have NO problem downloading from Frostwire or Limewire and transferring tune to iTunes.

Macs come with a pretty good range of applications. For example, I'm hooked on the music production program called Garageband. I can produce music without knowing anything about music in the first place.

Other cool apps include iChat which is a video conferencing thing that has moving backgrounds to make it look like you are standing under the sea or something like that.
I think the only minus is price, and even that is not much of a minus considering i find my Mac to be much more user friendly than a PC.

I never was one to buy into ANY hype, but since trying a friend's Mac, i'll never go back.

If you want to choose between laptops, definitely go with the Pro. It has ambient light screen brightness control, larger screen, a backlit keyboard, better graphics capabiity, more RAM, a faster CPU, and a snazzy bullet silver aluminum case...
You should go to the Apple website and compare them.

Does the battery life last long? I am probably going to be in an airplane for 20 plus hours so I want somehing that lasts. How long on average does your mac's battery life last for?

I want to buy as much ram as possible but to go from 2gigs to 4gigs of ram is like an $800 price difference. Would my external hard drive for my PC work with a mac?

They last about 4-5 hours depending on how hard your working it.
Yeah, buy your RAM from another company. Much cheaper and super easy to put in.

Did you install your own ram using crucial.com or newegg. Because ram is expensive from the apple website. Id it easy to install ram in your macbook?

I saw an I-Mac 20in yesterday and for the first time I was impressed with a Mac. The windowed window of windows was quite impressive running parallels.

Still not sold on them, still playing with Leopard though on my Thinkpad and it's definitely the better incarnation of OSX so far.

Never know I may be tempted by one.

Yea I am thinking of somehow putting a windows software on Apple since that is what I am used to.

I wouldn't get anything over two pounds. I'm not sure that apple makes any small machines (but I could be mistaken).

I am going to be working in Seoul for a year and I figured I better get a computer before I leave because one over there might be hard to find in English and might possible be more expensive.
