I want to know the answer for this too.
I think this is wrong. I gather (and I might be wrong), they we only need to get the BD sent here, and the embassy in Seoul can notarize this. We then pass it on to immigration.
Please tell me if this is wrong....'cause im getting my BD sent here without getting it notarized in the UK first. |

| How long did the subject access request take for anyone who has applied recently? I have the forms printed but not planning on going to korea till April. Should I just wait till nearer the time to get it done? Will it be too early getting it done now, running the risk of it being classed as out of date? |

Am I wrong in thinking that the Subject Access is not for employers to see? I was led to believe it is a personal document and that the information should not be disclosed to a third party.
I got my Basic Disclosure through in the post today and will hopefully get it back to them next week. I only had to wait a week for it to get here which I was quite impressed with, I just hope they send the disclosure back as swiftly.
Hopefully by the time I send it off someone will shine a light on whether we can get it notarised here or not. |

How do I apply for this basic disclosure? My local police force only mentioned the subject access.
I see people mentioned disclosue scotland. Is this a private company bumping up the price of getting it done? Do they just do it for Scottish residents? |

I have bolded a bit relevant to Basic Disclosure

If you require access to information which may be held on Northumbria Police records you MUST either tick the relevant box and/or complete the 'Other - please explain' section
You will need to print off, fill in and return the form to us, along with:-
* proof of identification i.e. current passport, driving licence or a birth certificate
(this MUST be the original if your current address is in the UK, or a photocopy if you are currently resident abroad)
* �10 fee (pounds sterling) This must be payable through a British clearing bank and made payable to 'Northumbria Police'.
* Please write on the front top left hand side the reason for your request i.e. Visa, Immigration or personal.
Please note we cannot accept a company address as your current address.
Once we have received all the documents, we will return a receipt (and original identifications, where applicable) to your current address. Should you need to contact us please quote the reference number written on the receipt.
Original documents are returned to you by recorded delivery, alternatively forms and identification can be handed in to the following address, where we can check form etc and immediately return original ID.

I got a reply from disclosurescotland after emailing them about the basic disclosure

It must be.
I don't see how a disclosure form from a private company can be viewed as equal to an official document from Her majesty's constabulary.

I don't see why not; if a company has been licensed to do background checks by Her majesty's government has been shown to fully comply with the relevant legislation then in my view their should be no reason why kimmi should have a problem accepting a basic disclosure. |

Which is cheaper, subject access fom police force or basic disclosure from disclosurescotland?
Why is there only one private company that offers the service for a basic disclosure?
Surely there has to be a few people that have gone through the whole process fairly recently or are doing it now, some hard facts would be good. |
