NO, i mean, the whole idea of getting a Mac is because you want to use it's OS and applications.
Anyway, computer companies sell their computers universally with english. |

Good point. I like Apple computers for a number of reasons but the dual os compatibility is one of the biggest reasons. If you don't see yourself using the MAC os at all I would suggest a PC simply because of cost, windows pc's are a better deal if you aren't looking for extras or wanting the mac os. |

I have had 2 PC notebooks in the past. My most recent one was a cheapy Compaq that I got in Canada. I have been exclusive to using PCs until recently.
My wife bought a macbook but didn't really like it...so she asked me to swap notebooks with her. After playing for a bit, let me give you some comparisons:
- Mac OS loads WAY faster than windows does.
- With a mac I don't need to worry about defragging the HD or virus programs like I do with a windows PC system.
- Mac is more user friendly - though with Vista out, I'd debate this...seems vista is copying Mac stuff.
- the screen on the macbook is absolutely amazing for the price of the notebook.
- mac is way more quiet than PC notebooks...less fan noise, better cooling technology.
- mac battery lasts longer. It lasts about what a "double" size battery for the pc notebook does...3hrs watching video, 4-5hrs just doing text and low graphics work
- PC has more options for programs, however, I found I could get 90% of what I needed for mac - that I used in windows.
- i can't figure out how to get those korean add ons from my banking site to work with mac...prolly have to do it in a windows environment within my mac...no internet explorer for mac and safari isn't real korean friendly to Korean websites... (add on wise)
- IMO the macs look way cooler than the PC.
- i noticed the wi-fi in the macbook is way better than in my two PC notebooks. Note sure if this notebook has the new N standard or just the pc notebooks i had were older...
Here are some hints I will give you: if you are going cheap and gonna do a macbook GET 2GB of ram. I told my wife to do that and she didn't...the upgrade is another 328k won after the fact...it is much cheaper just to get the one with 2GB of ram.
If you are going high end notebook with the pro, same advice, get the most ram you think you will need...mac ram is damn expensive after the fact.
I think mac notebooks are gaining popularity. I know a lot more people who are buying them. Also, apple has a 3 year extended warrenty which I suggest you get if you do buy a Mac...I had a friend who had the plastic crack on his MacBook, they gave him a whole new notebook. Apple has AWESOME after service and a world wide warranty service. |

This is advice is the exact opposite I would give. It's a well known fact that Apple overcharges for RAM upgrades.
Do it yourself. 2 x 1GB sticks will cost you a whopping 34,000 won and take about 4 minutes to install.
Sounds like you got ripped. |

Yes, that's what i said before also. But i don't think you can order the computer with ZERO RAM, can you? The base model comes with 1 gig.
Then, you buy a 2 gig chip froma nother company and slap it in. It's really simple to do. |

I didn't get ripped...ain't willing to dish 328k for ram...so where do i get 2x1GB that will properly work in my macbook? I am heading to yongsan tomorrow, so lemme know asap pls Also 30k? WTF? 1xGB ram for a PC notebook in Canada is like 80-100 bux depending...
I know apple overcharges, but I can't see how "quality" ram is 10x cheaper... |

Just checked the MacBook Pro, uses 667 DDRII (2x1GB) with an upgrade to 4GB for $700! Nice of them.
G.Skill or Patriot Ram are on danawa for 50.000 for a 2GB stick....hmmm, that sounds like Apple is seriously ripping you off.
Now let's look at the HDD options. Standard is 160GB SATA 5400RPM. They charge $150 for an upgrade to a 250GB SATA 5400 RPM drive or $200 for a 200GB 7200RPM drive. Current prices on danawa are...
160 @ 5400 - 80 000
250 @ 5400 - 145 000
Those look good to me! Let's upgrade our machines at Apple and get an anal probe while we're at it!

| If I was to buy ram myself where would I find it online for an Apple macbook? I want to save money since Apple ram is so expensive. |

The first thing you would do is get the macbook. Then check what it has in it already, what brand, speed, etc.
Then go to danawa and look up that memory, and buy more of it.

Online. Look for:
Hynix 노트북 DDR2 1G PC2-5300S (28,000 won)
or
삼성 노트북 DDR2 1G PC2-5300 (16,000 won)
Hynix and Samsung are the same brands Apple use, so quality isn't an issue. Whoever quoted you 328k, you should find him and punch him in the face. |

The other downside I can see to a Mac is that when you get it out in public there will be people muttering away.

PC's are better. Macs are slower. If you prefer windows, then get a PC. Macs run OS X which is a GUI thrown on top of Free BSD. You can install os x, free bsd, linux, or whatever on your PC.
Macs are overpriced for what you get.
Better support for PC. |

The irony.

If you take resale value into consideration, Macs are cheaper than PCs. |

been on computers since before windows - maybe since before some of you were born?
anyway, am on my first mac now - macbook pro - wouldn't trade it for anything, am a total believer.
yeah, it takes a little getting used to but it's totally faster and more efficient than a windows machine.
*tip* get a dvd/rw cd/rw drive - you'll definitely want to use it.
for good deals on any mac products try www.powermax.com
and don't forget you can trade up your old mac - can't do that w/ a windows machine - |

I severely doubt that. If it weren't for my mac, i wouldn't have scored my current hottie. |
