Bush Pushes Turkey Bid To Join EU
AP - Tue Jan 8, 1:50 PM ET
WASHINGTON - President Bush gave Turkey's bid to join the European Union a glowing endorsement on Tuesday and called the Islamic nation a "constructive bridge" between the West and the Muslim world, offering a much-needed boost to U.S.-Turkish relations.

Turkey joining the EU has as much a chance of happening as Korea joining the EU. And good thing too. I don't think Europe needs a few tens of millions of young muslim folks settling in Rome. |

Don't you find it interesting that while westen militaries have been sent to occupy Muslim countries & fight "terrorism" in the Middle East, on the home front, governments are allowing large numbers of radical Muslims to flood into Europe & North AmeriKa?

Both are results of Western ignorance about islam, muslims and the outside world. The political right thinks that a few GI Joe's can make Iraq a democracy and the left thinks that little mommy-hating mohamed is just a likely to be a good citizen and anybody else, regardless of what ideas his parents indoctrinate him with.
There is no conspiracy. Just naivety. |

Bush has a serious screw loose in his head.
Europe doesn't need a large voting Islamic voice and people with free roam into their politics and lands. Not to mention that large pourous border on the eastern side of Turkey.
Knowing how screwy Bush and the neocons are, they might be suggesting this just to create conflict in Europe just to keep more American hedgemony over there. |

There are political reasons for the American support of Turkey in the EU, of course. The US needs Turkey as an friend, and a friendly friend at that. When I lived in Turkey in 2004 the Turks would often preface their anti-semitic slams of the USA with "but they support our addition to the EU". |
