Has anyone from North Amerca done this?
Aside from the region code thing, I was looking at the voltage range for my Korean PS2. Now my laptop tells me it's god for 110 -240 volts, but all my Playstation tells me is this:
"~220v"
What the hell is that? Does this mean that it only works at approximately 220volts? Or that it's good for anything from a potato battery up to 220 volts.
Help me. I may be unemployed for a while and I'll need video games to see me through. |

It won't work in Canada. Bright side, it won't explode if you plug it in either (unlike what would happen if you brought a 110V PS2 to Korea).
If you want to be really fancy, take it to a local game store that does a lot of electronic repairs (I know of one in Incheon in Mansu-dong specifically) and they'll swap out the 220V for a 110V. Then you can plug it in when you get home without needing a transformer. |

Laptop computers usually have current converters on them (the heavy black box in the middle of the cord) which regulate the current. That's why your laptop can be used with such a wide range of currents. PS2's do not, so they can only be used with one current type. The simplest solution is to buy a converter. In the US, they cost 20-30 USD. Not sure about here. |

ive just got a slimline playstation 2 . Ive heard rumours this will work fine back home in England as it already has a converter. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, while I am at it - where is the best place to get this thing chipped? and what exactly does getting it chipped mean? - does it just mean I can play dodgy pirated games?
thanks in advance |
