I don't really know why I do this because I love living in Korea and don't see myself leaving anytime soon. But, I always tell people back home NOT to buy Korean products.
This country has had the MOST unfair business advantages in the world for the last what 50 years and a high number of the population still seems to hate and be ignorant towards foreigners and foreign nations. Koreans love to think thsat their Bali-bali way is why they were successful, but I believe if it wouldn't be for the US(im Canadian)this country would probably still be a farming nation slaving under Kim Jong-Il, yet they still seems to be some US hatred here. Korea really is America's ONLY success story outside their borders in my opinion.
Koreas companies can do business outside their borders rather easily (while paying for cheap labor in the North) and foreign companies have to jump through loopholes to do buisness here and their products are usually sold for MUCH more expensive then they should be. Higfh tariffs on cars, foods and other things I believe.
Also Koreans themselves can easily operate businesses elsewhere but it is rather difficult for foreigners to do the same. I personally think other countries should put in HUGE tariffs on the Hyandai's, Samsung's and Kia's of this country until this country learns that they should be at least a little thankful for the help they received from many other countries.
Right now, the level of nationalism in this country still sickens me and I love putting down nationalist drunken ajosshi's everynow and then.
Sure Korea has a lot to be proud for, but I will not recognize anything great this country has done until it recognizes the HUGE amount of foreign help it has received.
Until then, I encourage everyone outside of Korea not to buy Korean made products. |

Personal decisions are personal decisions, but when a Hyundai car performs as wells as Honda, has an equal or better warranty and is 10k cheaper, no one in the world cares who makes it.
