Regards over time pay - I am owed a chunk, but there are other things that have cropped up recently.
Arbitrary contract changes, which are, of course against me - namely suddenly the very specificly titled and described "teaching hours" has become "preparation hours" [they are not mentioned otherwise in the contract] according to the Hokwan owners, who's threatening to dock my pay if I don't come and twiddle my thumbs for 3 hours a day.
Should I pursue this seperately or together? |

I'd say remedy them together.
You don't want to be complaining (albeit justifiably) every two minutes, and they definatly don't want that either. Not to mention, this will probably be an unpleasant meeting not worth repeating if possible. |

Following negotiation rules:
You first try to reach a settlement as on the entire issue. If negotiations get stuck, you cut it down to the essentials and negotiate item per item until both parties are happy with the result.
This is assuming that both parties are willing to negotiate. |

Unfortunantely,
There seems to be a 15 day lag between offense and recolution [don't see why, but whatever].
I will probably need to file now for OT, and then if he is dumb enough to try dock my pay or try some other stunt, I will have to do it again in 15 days time. |

George, you are having a lot of trouble with your Hagwon. Maybe you should mention to him that it is more difficult to find a foreign teacher now due to E2 Visa regulations but being the idiot he is, he probably hasn't been reading the news recently.
I would make clear that if he wants to change the contract that he and you both have to agree and co-sign a letter indicating your desire to change the contract, otherwise he has to stick it out.
Tell him frankly that if he fails to pay your OT wage you will blacklist him and mention that unfair practices on a teacher's EFL forum. He should back down then. He is only wanting to pay off your pension and try to screw you out of OT pay.
These cracksuckers need their lights punching out. Good luck. |
