Greetings. I'm planning on relocating to Korea and teach there. I'm also in the US Navy Reserve. Can anyone inform me of TESL schools close to the US Navy Base in Korea?
Thanks. |

There are 3 naval bases in Korea. Which one?
NCISRU Chinhae
Bldg 201
COMFLEACT Chinhae, ROK
Telephone: 011-8255-540-5877 DSN 762-5877
The Port of Chinhae is located in Chinhae Harbor on the southeast coast of the Republic of Korea (ROK), just 30 minutes from Pusan. In addition to being the site of the U.S. Navy Fleet Activities Command (COMFLEACT), Chinhae is also the principal naval base of the Republic of Korea fleet. The primary mission of COMFLEACT Chinhae is to maintain and operate facilities, to provide services and materials in support of tenant shore activities and unites of the Operating Forces of the U.S. Navy, and to perform such other functions or tasks as may be directed by higher authority. NCISRU Chinhae covers the territory north of Chinhae to Taegu, and Yechon, and west to Daejon and Kunsan, to include the ports of Chinhae, Masan, Changwon, Kunsan, and the island of Cheju.
NCISRU Pusan
Bldg 745, Camp Hialeah
Pusan, Republic of Korea
Telephone: 011-8251-801-7542
DSN 763-7542
Camp Hialeah is located on the southern tip of the Korean peninsula in the port city of Pusan. Camp Hialeah provides the primary support facilities for McNab Compound at Cheju Island, Pusan's Pier 8, and the Pusan Storage Facility at Pier 6.
NCISRA Seoul
Bldg 2680, U.S. Army Garrison

Camp Hialeah is closed down and USNK activity-Seoul is an Admiral-level support element that coordinates Naval operations in cooperation with USFK and ROKN.....
And the naval port in Pohang is a joint US-ROK installation, but I heard there is a reserve laison office there....
The closest active Naval reserve center that I know of is in Japan.
You should contact your retention NCO for information or contact the main Naval Reserve Bureau in Washington for more information about reserve centers in NE Asia.... |

There is only one Navy Base in Korea- Chinhae. Its a nice place; clean (by Korean standards) and the people are quite freindly. If you can get a job there- go for it. |

There are many schools on the south coast in places like Jinhae, Pohang, Busan, and Masan that might be near the naval installation..
But I would notify your losing/gaining command before relocating, depending on your rank.
Again, you should contact your retention POC or Reserve command center to find out which naval support center you can serve at while in Korea......
Also, make it known to your employer AFTER you get hired that you are a reservist (in Korean, it is promounced hae-yae-bi-gun) so they don't discriminate against you during the selection process.....
