I am about to begin the process of securing employment in Seoul. I would like to get a job in a private school and was wondering if I would need reference letters.
I know that for public positions it seems these are required--are they also required for private positions, or does it vary by case?
Thanks for clearing this up in advance.
Also, if letters are required is it necessary to have a hard copy (or are they only viewed electronically)? I do have reference letters in pdf format on my hard drive, but I no longer posess the originals. |

Well, in Korea, all you need is a heart beat.
References are normally not requested, but if they are, then you have them in pdf format, and they have the details of the referees to contact anyway.
You have nothing to worry about. |

Just print the letter and include it in your app. I'm pretty sure nobody even looks at them.
My LOR was hand-written in Korean by my taekwondo master's father. MAYBE they read that one since he has something to do with another board of education and it was IN KOREAN, but you know, since NOBODY ever mentioned it, I doubt it. |
