does anyone know of a cheap route to travel from busan or seoul to kathmandu?
i'm looking for a one-way ticket at the beginning of march and the cheapest i've found is 1.2 with thai, ouch.
most likely routes i guess are via bangkok with thai, air china via beijing or shanghai, or cathay pacific via hong kong, or even korean air direct from incheon but this leaves 5 days later than i want to |

you could catch a train from Beijing to Tibet and then from Tibet into Nepal. If you have the time that is. |

Korean air flies direct to KTM, however they only fly on Thursdays. I just punched it in on the Korean air website, and you could go on March 6 for 733,000 won 1-way.
You could also track down Royal Nepal airlines (their office is in the city hall area)...see this site: http://www.nepal.co.kr/nepal/default.asp (in Korean). see the fares here: http://www.nepal.co.kr/nepal/sch/main-1.asp (also in Korean)
If you call the #02-756-2161 someone should be able to speak English, and they could get you a 1-way via hong kong for around 520,000, if I remember correctly.
BUT be warned... I booked a ticket with them last year, I was supposed to fly out September 1st, and got a text message at work on the evening of August 31st saying my plane didn't get off the ground in Kathmandu, and my flight was therefore cancelled. They wouldn't put up any extra cash to get me on a flight on a different route (via BKK or somewhere). If you're tight on time at all, I wouldn't recommend Nepal Air.
Go with Thai or Korean, and you'll actuall get there. |
