Hi,

I have been reading conflicting opinions on this, and I urgently need some clarification.

I am on a E-2 Visa, teaching for an academy, and have been offered another job working in my own time as a text-book writer. I have read on this site that it is possible if you get written permission from your school, yet when I have asked my school, they have told me that it is illegal. I do not have a huge amount of trust in this school and wouldn't be surprised if they are lying to me just to be pricks.

Does anyone know anything definitive about this, and if so, can you give me a link to some kind of official document outlining the E-2 rules so I can quote it to them?

Thanks,

Ben

Your school doesn't want to give you permission.

It can be made legal if they will give you permission.

Here's the link to the info page :

The form, what you need is item 7.

You do need permission from your E2 sponsor. I've done it many times and it's a painless process once you have all the documents.
