I have just applied for my CRC though disclosure scotland so it should arrive within 2 weeks or so (apparently).....however i'm confused about getting it notarized?...is this really essential?...and if so what is going to be the easiest way to get it notarized ( solicitor, embassy???) and can this be done in Seoul or do I have to send it back to the UK to get notarized?

help is appreciated

I was told by the GEPIK ladies that it could be notarized at the UK embassy here.

Whether or not that was a spur of the moment bit of original thinking by them i don't know.

this is what they charge....

Tier 1 pricing
To issue an Apostille Certificate to a Tier 1 document costs - 59 + vat (64.60)

Tier 2 pricing
To issue an Apostille Certificate to a Tier 2 document costs - 79+ vat (88.10)

either way it looks bloody expensive. cant we just get the criminal check and take it to a local authority to get it stamped. i know when i have had to get similar things done in the past i only had to take it to a doctor or local police station and get them to stamp it.

Again, dont trust what I say. I might have the wrong information. I'm now planning to get the Disclosure sent here (Korea) and take it to UK emabssy in Seoul. I believe there, the embassy and I can sign an affidavit swearing the disclosure to be genuine. Ive read that immigration will accept this.

Again, Im not sure as I will have to deal with this in a few weeks.

Im not sure if the disclosure can be apostilled as it is not a government document. Please let us know how you get on.

Good luck.

This is a link for a commonwealth agency in London apostilling docs for 27 quid.
Thought it may help some.
