|

Okay, I know that Korean subtitles exist for The Simpsons. I've seen the show on Korean cable. I need to get my hands on an episode or two with Korean subs, but I'm having trouble.
In February I have to teach my departing students for a "review" week. As we've covered all relevant textual material, etc., and this isn't even a part of the regular school year I plan on showing a couple cartoons and asking questions about them.
I've tried downloading the .smi files on spkor.com and playing them adjunct to the relevant file in VLC Media Player, but all I get are boxes where there should be text -- even on a Korean computer.
Does anyone have any episodes of The Simpsons with Korean subtitles, or tips on how to get the .smi files to work correctly? Thanks! |

Simpsons DVDs from Korea have Korean subs...how about you check around your neighbourhood for places that rend dvds and see if any have a season or two? |

A) Use gomplayer as your media player. You can just drag and drop subtitle files onto the video while you watch.
B) You can also find subtitles at gomtv.com.
C) Make sure you have Korean fonts enabled on your computer. Start/program files/regional and language options/advanced/language for non-unicode programs---set to Korean.
Edit: if you have a Koran friend, you might want to try to set up an account at www.wedisk.co.kr They have plenty of western tv shows and movies for download and they come with the matching subtitle file. It's a pay site, but it's dirt cheap. |

Excellent! Gomplayer worked. I was reticent to try it because I didn't think they'd have an English-language installation, but I was wrong.
Much thanks! |
