My school owes me a vacation day. My contract finishes at the end of the month. They told me I can finish a day early because I am owed the vacation day. Is there any way they can screw me out of my severance by saying I didn't work or quit my last day?

Similar position here.

My contract date is 2 days into the new school year.

I am wondering if I have to go in for these 2 days, and have to refuse other employment on the first 2 days of the term?

Suppose there is always sick-days, but I too am a bit concerned about a stingy Principal.

You are still under contract even when you take a vacation day, no matter if it is at the end of your contract. It's not like you are being fired or being given a letter of release.
