I bought a Macbook on a whim after buying an older one for my gf (she loved hers). Even though I enjoyed tooling around with it for some time, I ended up giving her the new one that I bought for myself, and I am selling hers.
Some people love them; some hate them; and some are like me (indifferent). It is a nice machine, but I use my desktop far more than I use either of my laptops. I have have an HP that gets far more use than the Macbook. I guess that it is what you are comfortable with and what your needs and uses are. |

What do Microsoft and a halter top have in common?
They both offer very little support. |

| I have played around with Macs and I love them! I however run pcs with Linux (Windows continuously frustrates/disappoints me). It really depends on what you're gonna be using it for. A PC running Linux can be just as functional and useful as a MAC without all that Windows nonsense. |

The other downside I can see to a Mac is that when you get it out in public there will be people muttering away.
"There's another *beep* with a Mac" |
I severely doubt that. If it weren't for my mac, i wouldn't have scored my current hottie. |
You may have scored a hottie, but she's delusional and people will still be saying:

| What is the difference between a Mac and PC in terms of it's components? Is it possible to build your own mac, like you can with a PC? Do they use different mainboards and CPUs etc? I use a PC mainly because I like to play games - could I play games like Crysis and Gears of War on a Mac? |

They use similar but not exactly the same hardware. Most of the key things are the same though. They use the same processors, graphics cards(in the portables at least) and hard drives. You can customize a mac when you purchase it (but only processor speed, hd size, graphics cards, ram ect...). You can't purchase a new case, power supply or cooling systems as far as I know, however there are a tonne of mods out there for macs if thats your thing.
As for the gaming question, yes you can play gears for sure in OS X, but you could play any game your little heart desires using windows installed on a mac as long as it meets processor, graphics and memory requirements. All iMacs do, all mac pro's do and all macbook pro's do. I am sure you could play them on a macbook too but the performance would be lacking seriously. |

Best way to find out is ask the gamers themselves which if their computer of choice (Fata1ity?).
Think you'll find that the majority are using PCs because they are cheaper to build and easier to upgrade. Has been that way for yonks and probably will continue to be so. |

| Nice, thats pretty cool. If Apple would ever allow os x on custom built machines I would be first in line. I don't think it will happen for a while. |
