I was browsing the TEFL.com website and came across this cracker. I'd apply for it myself but can't be bothered to go throught the whole CRC and medical thing.

Yes, I saw that. Have fun trying to collect the $1,000,000 a month though...in law that's called, drum roll, a mistake. If you are silly enough to expect $1,000,000 a month, it's called a mutual mistake. |

Don't these two things mean the same thing? |

There's nothing new in the advertisement.
Gangwon-do has had longer than 'normal' (public school) holidays since 'joining' (getting funding) through EPIC. There's a reason for this - they can't attract enough foreign English 'teachers' to fill the vacancies... it's a simple supply/demand curve. The 'catch' is that they can put you anywhere (any school in any city) in the province. Worst case scenario - 45 minute commutes between three elementary, and a 'technical' high school (i.e. unmotivated 'loosers') in the middle of 'bum-f*ck nowhere'.
Remember - they didn't get the Olympics. |

$1,000,000/12 = $83,333.33/mo. That's not tooooo bad.
I would have trouble recycling all the 'white envelopes'. |

Doesn't sound great and if it did sound great, I would presume it to be bait and switch fraud, based on my experience working for dishonest hakwon frauds. |

What???
Looks like you get 300 bucks once for relocating and nothing more if you work in a big city.
What's so great about that? |

OK dollar sign haha.
However Gangwon public school teachers who do re-contract are offered 2-year contracts with an extra million won payout at the end on top of all the usual stuff just because its cost-effective to keep good people around. (I helped write the contract.) Best contractual vacation time for public school teachers in the country too.
Gangwondo is not that scarily rural & it's non-metropolitan in a way that appeals to many. Fact is, we're getting loads of applicants & the retention rate is high. Chronic malcontents need not apply. |

When I renewed after my first year in Korea, my new contract said I would get paid 21,000,000 won per month instead of 2.1million. Yeah that didn't happen. |

You ONLY get that 1million won bonus at the end of TWO YEARS! After one year you get the standard one month severance. |
