I think Ron Paul won that debate. But, it is kinda like being first in class in special ed.
He was excellent on the Iran boat thing and kept his cool when the arsehole directing the event mocked him. And wasn't that awesome? In a democracy, that has only two parties (that are nearly identical in all meaningful ways), the people watching over the debate make sure to marginalize the candidates that fall outside of the goalposts of accepted opinion. This type of behavior has deeply eroded the reasoning skills of many Americans. |

| Well I am sure glad the Klan doesn't get their say in American politics. |

Isn't this great? We no longer have to discuss issues Paul brought up because Lew Rockwell wrote politically incorrect and racist nonsense in a newsletter.
So, the Fed is destroying the dollar, empire is 1trillion a year, economy in recession, wars wars wars, torture, renditions, the world hates America/ns, the drum of war to Iran. All of it. No longer relevant.
The right wing attack machine attacked itself to ensure that dissent was neutralized. I wonder how they will get Obama or Clinton. |

Yes, but what was your opinion of Fox News BEFORE they failed to support RP...like three or four years ago? |
Never watched it so I don't know. |

None of these things are relevant. This is election season! Why, did you hear Hillary cried?
Please understand that I don't think the American people (well, not all of them) are superficial and stupid. But the chattering pundits and the media are. |

| I understand that politics is vapid (gotta appeal to the emotions of the citizens) but I find it unfortunate that the one candidate who actually brought intellectual diversity to the discussions is now done and nobody seems to care. A campaign about change, without any change. |

IGTG's movie from a couple of posts back is worth a watch. It has some Nazi movie with Ron Paul/Rupert Murdoch subtitles. Every delusion known to the Paulunteers is there. The best part is that it appears to stage itself as a crisis within the Nazi Party, a telling detail.
A couple of clips:
Alan: Hannity listen, hes (RP) becoming way too popular to be stopped
Hannity: You are stating the obvious, Alan. Everyone is well aware of that. Hell just be banned from the debate. He wont be able to survive without that type of exposure.
Alan: I think thats a bad ideahis movement will get stronger if you do that.
Some Nazi: Maybe we should ridicule his supporters as wellMake them look like uneducated radicals.
Murdoch: Do it! Say that they are lunatic high school dropouts.
It's a terrific self-parody. Too bad it wasn't intended as such. |

So your complaint is really that other people don't believe the same things as you. Gotcha. |
You sure are reading a lot into what I believe based on a message board, but sure, If a segment of the population out there truly believes FOX is a legitimate news soure,I would have a problem with them. |

| Out of the republicans, Paul seems like the best, but I strongly disagree with his domestic policies. McCain's response was kind of frightening. I don't know if I want a president who dismisses the entire middle east by saying that the only thing they have to trade is burkhas. |

I think American libertarians are beginning to contemplate just how much Ron Paul has set back the movement.
Here's another respectable libertarian (same libertarian blog), condemning the newsletters.
| Dale Carpenter wrote: |
| Paul has fringe supporters who won't be troubled by what's in the newsletters or who will turn cartwheels to excuse it in some way. But many well-meaning people have endorsed Paul as a refreshing alternative to what they see as stale and mealy-mouthed politicians and to big government run amok whether in Iraq, in taxes, in spending, or in regulation. The moral challenge for these prominent and responsible Paul supporters now is to repudiate his candidacy. |
Here's my question to you, thepeel, don't you feel any remorse for calling the rest of us crazy for basically being right on Ron Paul?
I called this out early, pointing to the very rhetoric he used.
| Kuros wrote: |
I think when Ron Paul calls himself a strict constructionist, we really need to cut through that rhetoric and ask what he means. Ron Paul has said he opposes Lincoln's Civil War. He does not think that the lawfulness or unlawfulness of slavery should have been determined by the Federal system. Why? Does Ron Paul support slavery?
I don't think he does. Such a position would be absurd. But he does oppose one direct outcome of the American Civil War: Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, also known as the Due Process Clause... |
There are substantial arguments being advanced against Ron Paul. And it is very substantial that Ron Paul, while perhaps not a racist himself, has been very opportunistic and deliberate in recruiting their support. |
