was waiting at the busstop. a white guy, his filipina wife and beautiful blue eyed toddler waiting on the bench. the kid was just a kid. not even two years old i would guess. strange dynamic indeed: man sitting next to woman, woman next to baby. baby wants to wander. mom has her hands firmly in her coat pockets. man reaches over to secure the kid. the kid, again, just a baby, recoils in the classic "covering my head" with everything she has because she knows what comes next.
the koreans were aghast. with all eyes watching the little girl wasn't beat in public, but everyone could guess what happens when they get home.
if you gotta be old school and think it is right to beat your kid don't hit them on the head. that's the brainbox and hits to the head are cumulative.
or even better, don't beat your kids. my old man used to beat all of us when one of us messed up even a little bit. i try to let it slide but a huge chunk of resentment dwells yet. |

How is this job-related?
Hell, what gives you the right to pass judgment? How do you know what happens? |

koreans don't believe in disciplining their children in public.
if he had taken the kid back to the apartment and beaten her, there wouldn't have been a problem. |

Physical punishment might seem harsh.
I am certainly no proponent of physical punishment, especially against it when it is not your own kid.
But have you ever had a kid in a tantrum? As a father it pains me to sometimes have to hit my child to make him comprehend that his behavior is unacceptable.
And then there is hitting and hitting. My child doesn't go into a protective stance when I reach or grab for him. He knows that most of the time it is to get him out of harms way. I tell him before I hit him that if he does not stop his behavior that physical punishment will follow. 9/10 times it works.
Don't be to quick to decide on for others whether it is wrong or right. Parents don't like hitting their children, but circumstances sometimes dictate differently. Parents know what I am talking about. |

That is hilarious!
You would not even slow down to jump on the bash train if the same story had been told but the couple was Korean....
As for the OP...why relate this story here at all?
You really have no idea what it was about and if the kid was actually beaten. Assumptions are always a bad thing...they make you look like an idiot most of the time as you are proven wrong.
Now can some of you please stop yourselves from using this thread as yet another excuse to bash Koreans..it would be refreshing if you actually tackled the issue here and just commented in the OP instead of tossing a another stone at Koreans....good lord. |

Privates are illegal, too. No one teaches privates. It's a crime against humanity. Better to have children learn legally in hagwons and public schools where Koreans can exploit foreign teachers. Much better! And legal! |

Yeah, so is jay-walking, littering, smoking in no smoking areas, running red lights, speeding, prostitution, etc. I am glad I never see any of those.

Actually...no. I would defend you if you had a valid case backed up by something more tangible that heresay and second hand opinion...I would do this regardless of race or creed buddy and even do it pro bono...
Your post stunk up the joint as hypocritical crap..sorry buddy but you know it is true because you have jumped on the bash train many, many times before here when it came to Koreans...you in fact usually have a policy of bash and ask questions later..maybe ask questions..or..perhaps..bash some more.
I maintain it: the OP made a judgement call based on nothing tangible but an outsiders impression. We agree on this sk...
If I see you giving the same benefit of the doubt in a thread where some yahoo brings up some story about Koreans based on impression alone then I will be the first to applaud your well balanced stand on things.
You just took offense here because the OP was making an assumption about non-Koreans...admit it, move on and lets forget it. You couldn't help yourself..thats all. |
