|
|
I worked here for six months from September 05-April 06. I know I was paying into the pension fund. Unfortunately due to the fact that the hagwon I was at SUCKED, I left.
I came back in January 07 and applied for a new visa. I have just extended my job and my boss tells me that when I sign off from this job I will be able to collect my pension.
Question:
Would the amount of money I paid into the pension fund at my previous job be available for me to pick up?
Would it be combined with the current amount that I am paying into each month?
If not, is there a way to collect it? I still have the visa from my previous job here. Could I collect it if I show them my visa from my previous job?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you kindly, have a wonderful day. |

I suggest you go to the NPS web site, and post the question at the Q&A section [help desk, I think].
As I understand from previous posting [I just had my own problem resolved, and did a fare share of reading on the subject], they hold it for 5 years, and you'll need your old ARC#, not your visa [go to Immi and ask for it], and they will consolidate it.
Trust me, you want to hear it from the lions mouth. I am currently online trying to delete some BS I myself wrote. |

Uh....when you went to immigration and got the alien registration card with your picture and address on it? The number on that card was your ARC.
If you never did that (usually you have 90 days), I highly doubt you were actually paying pension, no matter what may have been taken out of your pay. |

Well, no. ARC=Alien Registration Card. ARC#=Number of that ARC. I just didn't bother to type # in my last post.
AFAIK your ARC# does not change, so you shouldn't really have any problems collecting the money. |

I do not have my old ARC. I do however still have my previous visa that has been cancelled. Are you sure that that won't suffice? |

The number doesn't change. You have an ARC NOW, right? You're paying pension NOW, right? Call the pension office. I bet your first pension is still in the SAME account. |

Thanks for your help. I called the office here in Gwangmyong. The man told me in clear English that the money I paid at my previous job will be combined with my current job, all I need to do when I want to claim it is go to their office and show them the right documents, that my ARC has the same number as before...
You were right.
Again, thanks for your help.
