I've been waiting and waiting for the university I've signed a contract with to tell me what the F*CK I'm supposed to do for my new visa. I opted not to run around like a headless chicken and actually wait and see what really was required.
Unfortunately the university hiring staff seem absolutely clueless. I have to email them three or four times for a response like "we are working on it, we'll get back to you..."
All I can say is WTF!? Can't they simply call Immigration themselves and ask in Korean what I need to do? What is so F*CKING HARD about that!?
I keep explaining to them that I have already done a CBC for EPIK and a medical and I need to know the specifics about notarization, etc. Their first response was priceless it amounted to "...don't worry about it, the government won't stick to this policy..."
That's pretty damn lackadaisical I think, don't you?
Anyway, to the point. Has anyone in Busan successfully processed the paperwork for a change of job for this coming semester? What did Busan Immigration expect? What is your nationality, I'm an American so I am especially concerned about Megook specific hoops.
Thanks much. |

I have a good Korean friend who I asked to call Busan Immigration and inquire about how to get an acceptable CRC.
IMMI told her (in Korean) that all I needed to do was to go to the American consulate in Busan and they would handle everything (she called yesterday, January 14).
I called the American Embassy to ask if this was true.
I was quickly transferred to a phone menu with no information.
I called back.
I was referred to a website that had no information.
I called back.
I was then told by a live person that I simply had to print out a CRC from any website and bring it to any Korean police station and they would validate it somehow for immigration...
That's where I am in the process.

I know this doens't anwser your wuestion, but I have a feeling the may be right. These new regs have made it extremely difficult for first-timers and those wishing to renew their visas. FT numbers will soon start to nose-dive. When they do, the government/immi will have to reconsider their policies.
I dunno. Myabe that's what they want. Apparently they want Englishee to be taught by Koreans only eventually. Yeah right!
