From the article:

After a year in Washington, where he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University, he returned to Seoul and was elected mayor in 2002. |
Does this mean that Pres-elect Lee Myung-Bak is a pretty fair hand at speaking English? If he is, does that mean he may produce a clearer vision for the future of English than his predecessors (if Koreans follow through and actually install him, post-investigation)?
And would that mean he'd be more than just a figurehead-leader in the push for English learning in South Korea? Or will it always be English education business as usual? |

This guy is a realist when it comes to English and its importance. If Korea doesn't get better at English then they are always going to be at a disadvantage in business. English is the language of business after all.
Its funny because a lot of the Korean English teachers at my school has been showing to my "Teacher's Classes" ever since the election. They are worried about the rumor that they'll have to start teaching some subjects strictly in English.
Its funny when they walked into my class I said, "Oh, finally not "too busy" to make it to my class." |
